Fearne Nail Polishes

Picked up these polishes the other day from Boots as they were on offer for 1/2 price. I had always looked at the colours and admired them, but always went for other nail polishes instead. But for £2.75 each I couldn't really say no. There wasn't that much choice left, and all the bottles had obviously been there for a while, as they were all a bit scratched or dirty, but I ended up going for the Lime Green and Mint Green. I don't usually ever wear lime greens, but this is a perfect colour, really creamy and more yellow based, I will definately wear this in the warmer weather, it just screams summer! The second colour I picked up was the Mint Green, which is very blue based, and I would say the colour is very similar to Tiffanys blue! I've got plenty this sort of shade, but it's always a favourite colour. For the picture above, I quickly applied one coat each, I think they've been sitting for a long time, and so they were quite streaky. But if I was to apply two coats they would definately even out. The bottle design is quite cute, simple, a little bit different, but I still think it was never attractive enough to make me purchase it when it was full price. They're still on offer on the Boots website here, and I assume if there's stock left, they'll still be in store.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit - Porcelain

Another purchase from BuyaPowa, not too happy with them at the moment, I've been waiting for ages for the Shu Uemura eyelash curlers and Naked 2 palette for ages, and now I've missed them both!! Anyway.. I've wanted to try the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit for a while now, as I always suffer with dark circles, and I've only ever heard good things about it. Obviously being as pale as milk, my shade is Porcelain, and luckily it was on buyapowa, for a lower price of £18.

It's housed in a small black plastic case, with a mirror inside, which is great for touch ups on the go. Very sleek looking case and it's the perfect size for travel.

When swiping the product, the product name is definately correct, as it is super creamy, buttery soft. Perfect for working under and around the eye. It comes with a pan of white/translucent powder, but for me, I didn't find it to be much of a use, and I just top with my MSFN anyway. This definately does a good job of concealing dark circles, but I found sometimes it would get caught in eye creases, and just highlight it more. You can also use it to cover spots which it does a good job of too. To be perfectly honest, I prefer my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer, I've tried numerous concealers, and I think this is my favourite to date. For £4 it is amazing! I find it brightens my eyes aswell, so definately try that out when you're next in Superdrug or Boots. But back to the product in question... I think I will definately give this more use, and see if there are other ways to make it work for me, I've only tried it over foundation, so we shall see. I'm not too sure I would recommend you go out and buy this straightaway, unlike most people who always say how great this is. But I will keep working with it and keep an update.

MAC Lip Swatches

This is most of my collection, I do have plenty of others I didn't get round to photographing. As you can see, lots of them didn't come out too great! They're pretty rubbish to be honest... I don't have the right lens at the moment, plus I did some at the wrong time of day, nice one! But I thought I'd post them anyway, and then try getting round to re-photographing them and adding the others. And when I actually sort myself out and make my blog a bit more functional, I'll add a link, and constantly update new purchases. Everyone loves a good old swatch, so hopefully when they're all decent they'll help somebody! I would love to do this for my nail polishes, but I have well over 200, and I think it would probably take me nearly a year to do it...! For reference, I'm basically a NC/W15 sometimes paler :(

Nails Inc Porchester Square and OPI Rainbow Connection.

The base colour looks a bit more green toned in the picture, but it is grey, which leans beige/brown. I had it on my nails for a day, then added Rainbow Connection to it, and topped it with Seche Vite. There are endless combinations with this popular glitter polish. Still want to try Models Own Utopia, a dusty pale pink, and black with it. You can see that my nails all have a different amount of Rainbow Connection on. It can be built up for a huge glitter explosion or just lightly for a hint of detail. Either way it's so colourful and eye catching, and I understand why it's so popular and a total sell-out. 

If you can't get your hands on Rainbow Connection, try Nicole by OPI's Rainbow in the S-Kylie, part of the Kardashian collection, which is an exact dupe. You can get it on ASOS or Lena White, a UK official OPI stockist.

VIVO Baked Blush - Peaches and Cream

Once again I ended up in my local Tesco store yesterday. Which is never good for my purse. Constantly buying things that I don't actually need... So after browsing the clothes section, (there are a lot of nice chiffon blouses at the moment, I've picked up 3 now!) I headed to the next best section - cosmetics. I then found myself at the VIVO stand at the end of the aisle. Straightaway my attention was drawn to the baked blushes. There were 4 shades in total, I believe they were all more of a pink shade, so this shade caught my eye. It's a warm peach shade, with a small hint of pink, which completely warms up complexions. When swatching the product, it felt soft and smooth, and the colour pay-off was great. Very pigmented, with a light sheen. For a product that cost £4 the pigmentation is amazing!

For me, the packaging just doesn't really do it. I also have a lipstick from the range, and I really don't like the casing for it. Quite big and chunky, and the cheap metallic look, which also appears on the back of this blush. I do like the clear lid where you can see the product, because the blush itself is beautiful! I am quite besotted with it to be honest! I would really recommend trying out these blushes, if you love a blush that isn't matte, and will you give you a natural glow without looking like a disco ball(!) for £4 you really can't grumble. Check your local tesco when you're next shopping! Make-up and food? The way to most girls hearts!

Looking a bit trampy, and you can't really tell the colour on my cheeks, but hopefully you get the idea...?! I'll try and do a better picture.

Nicki Minaj for OPI

Probably the most sought after nail polishes at the moment. For ages I couldn't decide if I liked them enough to purchase. I knew I wanted the turquoise one and the pink one (not like I need another!) Anyway, as I kept putting it off, I finally saw it pop up on Buyapowa for £8 and thought it was too good to pass up! 

Moving on.. Nicki Minaj's collection consists of 6 polishes, 2 of which aren't in the Minis pack. A glitter polish called 'Save Me' which has bar glitter in (so 90s!) and 'Super Bass Shatter' which is a shimmery dark purple, which does look really good over the colours, but I never wear shatter polishes as it is. 

The colours that come in the pack are very vibrant and catapult us straight into that summer feeling. I've already sported 2 of the 4 polishes on my nails and love them.

The colours from L-R are; 'Did it on 'em', 'Fly', 'Pink friday' and 'Metallic 4 Life'.

I have to say, 'Did it on 'em' isn't really to my liking, it reminds me of OPIs 'Who the Shrek are you?' which came out with the Shrek collection. Don't get me wrong it is a nice colour, but on my oh so pale skin it just makes my hands look so washed out and awful. On medium to dark skin tones this will look so good! But for me, it's a no no.

'Fly' is a beautiful turquoise/teal which leans more blue. I find that after 2 coats I still have visible nail line, but it's not really obvious. It is a gorgeous colour though, and I think it's a favourite amongst most.

'Pink friday' is obviously appealing to all girly girls across the globe! I'm a sucker for anything pink, it could literally be a pink toilet brush and I will want it! Sad I know... It's a thick creme polish and applies well, opaque after one coat, but perfect after two! I've already worn this and I love it. It's more of a warm pink than cool, and will suit most skin tones.

Finally is 'Metallic 4 life', another one I have already worn, and it looks great on nails. It's a sort of jelly finish, and on the nails translates as a grey/charcoal colour. You build up the colour to how you want it. Obviously I wanted it to be more black, so 2-3 coats is what you need, depending on how thick you paint it. Has different sized silver glitter in. Another polish that will look great on all skin tones.

All the swatches are 2 coats each. And you can see how they all finish off. Look for the VNL on 'Fly' and a bit streaky on 'Did it on 'em'!
